In order to best manage the time we have available to see patients, the surgery has a very strict policy on home visits. The doctors can see more patients in surgery than they can if they are doing home visits.
Only the very elderly and immobile patients, or those who are absolutely unable to travel because of serious illness need a home visit.
If you normally attend the surgery, or if you are able to attend the hospital for your appointments there, we will usually insist that you attend the surgery.
We are better able to access equipment (eg ECG machine, nebuliser), medical records & test results when you attend the surgery in person. This makes our decision making and your treatment more effective.
We are unable to take your transport arrangements into account as a reason to not attend the surgery. We unfortunately have to insist that you arrange transport with a family member, friend or alternatively use public transport.
We request that you telephone the surgery to ask for a home visit BEFORE 10.30am.
If you telephone after 10.30am, and your request is not an emergency, we may visit the following day.
Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
