Appointments - Update 12/04/2024

We are changing the way we book appointments.

Our GP's see over 1800 appointments a month and we need to prioritise those who need our most urgent care, but acknowledge the frustration that patients feel when we have no appointments available, and the need for patients to be able to pre-book an advanced appointment. We have therefore made the decision to change the way we allocate our appointments.

At 08.30am we will be taking urgent same day requests only by phone. These will be triaged by our care navigators in the practice. You may also be guided to alternative treatment options if more appropriate. You will not be able to request an appointment for a routine problem at 08.30am.

Any routine appointment requests will now be taken from 1pm. Routine appointments will usually be booked up to 8 weeks in advance, these appointments will also be available via NHS APP as outlined below. Be assured that if the GP’s need to speak to you more urgently after we get results, we will contact you to arrange a more timely appointment.

This now means if you have been asked to book a routine appointment to see or speak to a GP about results you will usually only need to call us once.

If you would like to see a doctor/nurse, you have a number of choices.

For a same day urgent appointment requests you can telephone the surgery from 08.30am each day. There will also be some same day appointments available via NHS APP.
There are also a number of pre-bookable GP slots available for routine appointments and these can be accessed as above from 1pm.
We are currently operating a triage service, so the team will ask you questions to ensure you get help from the most appropriate health care professional. This may be a doctor, a nurse or a pharmacist. If we are able to help you over the telephone, we will happily do so. If we feel you need a face to face appointment, you shall be invited to attend.
